How do I start garbage pickup?

  • There is no charge for curb-side trash pick-up however, you must obtain a trash can from Public Works
  • Please bring cash or check for $75 per can to City Hall at 918 N.E. Main Street, to obtain your can. Limit 2 cans per household.
  • Each trash can is guaranteed for 10 years. Call us if your can becomes broken and we will repair or replace.

How do I start recycling?

  • It's simple.  To participate, you must register at City Hall or complete the on-line REGISTRATION FORM and bring it to City Hall along with your payment or mail it along with your check to: City of Simpsonville, 118 N.E. Main Street, Simpsonville, SC  29681. Make checks payable to The City of Simpsonville.  There is a one-time registration fee of $25 that covers the cost of your new 96 gallon recycling roll-cart.
  • After you pay the registration fee, we will deliver your recyling roll-cart to you.
  • The new recycling can belongs to you.  It has a 10 year warranty.  If it becomes defective due to a material defect or workmanship, the roll cart can be repaired or replaced at no charge.  There is a $75 fee for a replacement roll cart for any other reason.  Should you have a problem with your roll cart, call Public Works at 967-9531.
  • Recyclables will be collected each week on your regular garbage collection day except on holidays.  See Trash Pickup tab for holiday schedule.
  • (NOTE: We no longer collect materials placed in the old 18 gallon recycling bins)

Do I need to register my dog?

Yes, dog registrations are required.

  • All dogs within the City Limits must be registered
  • Fees are $5.00 per dog yearly. The fee increases to $10 on March 1st. Go by City Hall to register your dog.

How do I dispose of electronic waste (i.e. computers, televisions, cell phones, printers)?

Electronic scrap is no longer accepted in the county landfill nor picked up by the City in most instances. See Recycling tab for more information of proper disposal of these items.

What do I do with yard waste?

  • Always separate different types of debris into separate piles.
  • Tree and shrub limbs, stumps, or logs must be between 1” to 6” in diameter and no longer than 6’ in length. Any limbs larger than these sizes are considered tree trunks and WILL NOT be handled by the City.
  • Place materials at least 5’ behind the curb

Will my garbage/recyclables/brush/junk be collected on Holidays?

Garbage is not collected on holidays.

Does the City remove construction debris?

Under no circumstances is construction debris (cabinets, windows, doors, lumber, brick, blocks,etc.) picked up by the City curb side.  See Debris & Large Items for details on collection procedures for these materials.

Is there a mosquito control program available?

Yes!  Mosquito control is provided in Simpsonville by Greenville County from June through September.  You must call them to request this service.  Call 467-5988 and leave a detailed message.

Do I need to pay a fee for connecting to City sewer or cutting City streets?

Yes!

Sewer tap fees. All new connections to City Sewer must pay sewer tap fees. These are:

  • Residential - $525
  • Commercial - $1,025

Street Cut Permit. Whenever public or private entities encroach upon City streets, curbs, rights of way or easements, and where the encroachment involves the cutting of streets or curbs, they must obtain a street cut permit at the cost of $500 each. Street Cut Permits must be obtained at City Hall.  Click this LINK to go to the City Forms page and select the ENCROACHMENTS/STREET CUT PERMIT FORM.  Complete the form and take to the clerk at City Hall.

Inspections – All utility work performed within the City Limits must be inspected and approved. For inspection, call 967-9531.

City Alert Message

MOSQUITOES:  Greenville County is currently providing mosquito services to Simpsonville on a "call in" basis.  If you want this service, call 467-5988 and leave a message.

The City no longer collects at curb-side ELECTRONIC SCRAP (computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, computer peripherals, fax machines, VCRs, stereos, phone-all kinds, consumer electronics and televisions). Such items must be brought to Public Works at 110 Woodside Park Drive, Simpsonville for proper disposal. Televisions 50" and larger diagonally can be picked up curbside by request. Curbside recycling has resumed in the City of Simpsonville. To participate in recycling, you must register at City Hall or complete the on-line registration form (accessed under the Recycling tab). All garbage, brush, leaves, grass clippings, junk, and debris items must be placed curbside by 7:00 am on your normal garbage collection day so it may be collected in a timely manner. Click on this LINK for further information.

Simpsonville Department of Public Works employees will be clearing off-road sanitary sewer easements throughout the City. This only affects properties with a Simpsonville sanitary sewer line crossing them.
